Glossary of Adoption Terms

CCCWA-China Centre for Children’s Welfare and Adoption (formerly known as the CCAA - China Center of Adoption Affairs), the branch of the Chinese government that handles the adoption
CCAI - Chinese Children Adoption International - our adoption agency
LID - Log in Date, the date the CCCWA logs the dossier into their system
LOA - Letter of Acceptance, comes from Chinese govt saying you are approved to adopt your child
Referral - The information we receive from the CCCWA about the baby we've been matched with
SW - Social Worker
TA - Travel Approvals - can arrive anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks after the CCCWA receives both Letters of Acceptance (LOA). After you receive this, then your agency schedules your travel itinerary and consular appointments.
